After
years of leading a productive life in a family and the
community, people over 60 are often faced with new problems.
Loss of a spouse, separation from usual support systems as adult
children move away from home, managing on a limited income and
limitations from health changes can seriously challenge an older
adult’s resources. Fortunately, there are a number of services
available in the community that address issues for seniors
directly connected with aging.
Services Offered in the Community Include:
- Group meals served in a Senior Citizen Center
- Senior Center Activities that offer
opportunities for socialization and recreation
- Educational Programs that present information on
a wide range of topics of interest to seniors, including
nutrition, consumer protection, and crime prevention
- Health insurance counseling to assist in
determining eligibility, processing claims and to offer advocacy
- Legal assistance including counseling and
representation by an attorney
- Transportation
- Volunteer recruitment
