Bryan County Economic Diversification Plan Completed

In late March 2007, Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute presented their final Economic Diversification Plan to the Bryan County public.  The grant for the project was funded by the United States Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment.  The Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center assisted Bryan County in applying for and administering the grant for development of a plan for diversifying the county's economy away from reliance on Fort Stewart.

The purpose of the study was to:

  • Determine the County's level of economic dependence on Fort Stewart;
  • Inventory current economic conditions in the County;
  • Gather input from internal and external stakeholders;
  • Develop an effective strategy and implementation plan.

Bryan County leadership and participants in the planning process are excited about the prospect of bringing new and diverse business development to the area.
